Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

It is the lodge policy that outside content is Scouting or OA-related. Outside websites that are commonly linked to include: Buffalo Trace Council, ScoutingEvent.com (Buffalo Trace Council’s event registration vendor), OA Section E1, Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America, and social media pages controlled by the lodge.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. Where we send your data
When submitting a comment, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Visitor comments and form submissions are checked through Akismet, an automated spam detection service. Analytics are processed using a self-hosted service, Matomo. Data is retained by Kiondaga Lodge.

Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products/services and online activity. We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website.
